Deemed Suitable for Hire

The background check was completed incredibly fast, and I have been "deemed suitable for hire".  I guess I don't have a big criminal record or anything... but we already knew that ;)  What does this mean now?  Well, assuming the required signatures have been gathered, then everything can be sent off to OIS, and the final processing can commence.  If that's the case, then everything should be in place in about (or less than) 2 weeks for a short trip to Canada, which should result in a VISA for me!  Huzzah!

  1. Does that mean you'll be making fewer blog posts in the future?

  2. Absolutely not! :D

Infact, I surmise that with the increased income, Rowan and I will be going on more weekend adventures and get-aways, which should lead to more blogging! I personally enjoy maintaining the blog and sharing random stuff that goings on in our life.

  3. Where in Canada do you hope to go to as your visa is being processed?

  4. Actually, the way this VISA works, is that I get it while crossing into the US. Assuming all goes well, it only takes about 45 minutes to get it. As to where I'll go in Canada... I don't yet know. If the timing works well, Rowan and I are thinking of making a quick trip to Kingston over a weekend (possibly the 20th and 21st of Feb, but that's only a thought). If the timing doesn't work well for a visit, I might just find the absolute cheapest flight from LA to anywhere in Canada, stay for a few hours, and then fly back the same day, or the next day. The professors that are hiring me are very eager to have me start officially as soon as possible, so it's just a matter of how long the last step of the process takes here at the University before we can finalize any plans here.
