Growing like weeds!

Our garden is a growing concern!

We have some beautiful flowers

Zillions of Squash Flowers!

A few squash flowers open!

Some lovely berries (strawberries and blackberries)

And some fruit and veggies (tomatoes, green peppers, a baby squash, and some "basket of fire" hot peppers!)

Growing....

Summer's almost here! But spring.... oh spring has seen a major transformation of our home, particularly our backyard!

This is what the back yard looked like last fall when we moved in.

But this spring... we started planting, trimming, and making some beds!

We started simple (planted some herbs, make one bed, and added a few veggies and flowers)

Herbs a' plenty!

Lavender and Jasmine

Then my mum visited and with her skills, we got a little more elaborate with the tomatoes and peppers (netting + special planters), we started a compost bin, planted more veggies, and got a boost from my mum's gardener friend Becky!

Becky's dill and mint

Becky's thanks for the echinacea, mexican mint, and bee balm (and that other plant that I never got the name of...)!

I reserved some seeds from a squash and man did they take off!

We also started trimming the overgrowth of the rose bushes and the hedges.

Before

After

We had a fun little bonfire with all the branches we had just hacked up!

That giant pile of wood that was in the corner went from that, to this...

To this:

Another bed ready for squash, cucumbers and maybe a few peppers/tomatoes that get too big!

And now we're off and running, with blackberries, blueberries, and tomatoes coming out already, and a backyard that we love sitting in! :)

Becky's plants!

Front yard flower box, smells amazing!

Red Peppers

Spaghetti Squash

Tomato!

Regular, cherry, and grape tomatoes

We now have a great place to relax, fresh herbs, and soon to have our own veggies... and that's worth all the hard work!

Mint tea anyone?
